Herschell Nickel Anti-Seize is a premium, heavy-duty protective lubricant specifically formulated for use on high-grade alloys, such as stainless steel, and in environments where copper-based products are restricted. This 500g tub of high-viscosity paste provides a dense, brushable barrier that prevents galling, seizing, and corrosion under the most extreme pressure and temperature conditions.
Technical Specifications
- Base: High-performance non-melt synthetic grease.
- Solid Lubricant: Pure Nickel flakes ($Ni$).
- Temperature Range: Stable from -30°C to +1400°C (The highest in the range).
- Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and chemical washouts.
- Volume: 500g Tub (Paste).
Key Features
- Extreme Temperature Stability: With a ceiling of 1400°C, it outperforms copper and ceramic variants, making it the industry standard for turbines, jet engines, and high-heat manifolds.
- Anti-Galling Power: Essential for "tough" metals like stainless steel, titanium, and magnesium, which tend to "cold weld" or seize when threads are tightened.
- Galvanic Corrosion Protection: Because nickel is chemically more "noble" than copper, this paste is the safer choice for preventing electrolytic corrosion between dissimilar metals, particularly when aluminum is involved.
- Inert Properties: It does not react with most gases or chemicals, making it suitable for use in chemical plants and refineries where copper could act as a catalyst for unwanted reactions.
Common Applications
- Stainless Steel Fasteners: Preventing the notorious "lock-up" of stainless nuts and bolts in construction and marine use.
- Petrochemical & Power Plants: Heat exchanger bolts, boiler manholes, and steam valve stems.
- Automotive High-Performance: Turbocharger studs, oxygen sensors, and exhaust sensors (where copper might interfere with sensor readings).
- Foundries: Ladle pins, furnace hinges, and die-casting equipment.
Usage Tips
- Application: Use a stiff brush to apply a thin, even layer to the threads or mating surfaces. Ensure the roots of the threads are completely filled.
- Cleanliness: Before applying, clean the surfaces with a wire brush or degreaser. Old grit or metal filings can compromise the lubricating film.
- Torque Correction: Like all anti-seize products, nickel reduces friction significantly. Reduce your dry torque values by 15% to 25% to avoid over-stretching or snapping bolts.
- Storage: Keep the lid tightly sealed when not in use. While the base is non-melt, dust and dirt contamination will reduce the paste's effectiveness.
