Ruwag Clout Nails (50g pack) are specialized fasteners characterized by their short length and disproportionately large, flat heads. In the South African DIY and construction market, Ruwag is a leading brand known for reliable hardware essentials.
The 50g pack is a “handy pack” size, perfect for small household repairs or craft projects where you only need a few dozen nails rather than a full kilogram.
1. Key Features
- Large Flat Head: The wide head provides a greater surface area to hold down thin materials without them tearing or pulling through (a common issue with standard wire nails).
- Shank Design: Usually features a smooth or slightly barbed shank for a secure grip in wood.
- Material: Typically made from galvanized steel to prevent rusting, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
- Handy Pack: The 50g pouch is resealable or compact, keeping your toolbox organized.
2. Common Applications
- Roofing Felt: Securing bitumen or felt to wooden shed roofs.
- Fencing: Tacking wire mesh or “chicken wire” to wooden fence posts.
- Upholstery & Furniture: Fastening backing boards to the rear of cupboards or securing heavy fabric.
- Signage: Naming plates or thin plastic signs onto wooden surfaces.
- Plasterboard: Sometimes used for securing corner beads or thin lath.
