Academy Refills Twin Pack Group

In the South African market, Academy Refills Twin Pack most commonly refers to paint roller refills from Academy Brushware, the country’s leading manufacturer of painting and cleaning tools.

Buying the twin pack is a popular choice for DIYers and contractors in Heidelberg because it offers better value than buying individual sleeves and allows you to switch between a primer and a topcoat without stopping to wash a roller.

Types of Academy Twin Pack Refills

Academy manufactures different sleeves for different surfaces. You will usually find these three “Twin Pack” options:

• Value Pile (Yellow/White Stripe): The most common all-purpose refill. Best for water-based (PVA) paints on smooth to medium-textured walls.
• Mohair (Short Pile): Used for oil-based paints, varnishes, and enamels. Ideal for doors, cupboards, and metalwork where a very smooth finish is required.
• Sheepskin/Long Pile: Designed for rough surfaces like brickwork, textured plaster, or perimeter walls.

Why Use Academy Refills?

• Low Lint: Academy’s higher-quality sleeves are designed to minimize “shedding,” so you don’t end up with tiny hairs stuck in your fresh paint.
• Core Strength: The internal plastic tubes are sturdy and won’t collapse when used with heavy-duty extension poles.
• Easy Clean: The synthetic fibers used in the “Value” range release water-based paint easily under a tap.
