The Camlock Type E Male Adapter x Hose Tail (65mm / 2½") is a heavy-duty industrial fitting designed to connect a flexible hose to a female Camlock coupler. This "Type E" adapter features a male grooved end on one side and a multi-ribbed hose shank (barb) on the other, making it a critical component for high-volume water transfer and irrigation systems in the Heidelberg agricultural sector.
Technical Specifications
- Type: E (Male Adapter to Hose Shank).
- Size: 65mm (2½ inches) nominal diameter.
- Material Options:
- Polypropylene (PP): Lightweight and resistant to liquid fertilizers and agricultural chemicals.
- Aluminum: Durable and ideal for water and petroleum (Diesel/Oil) transfer.
- Stainless Steel (316): Maximum strength and corrosion resistance for industrial use.
- Shank Design: Multi-barbed "Hose Tail" for maximum grip inside the hose wall.
- Standard: Manufactured to MIL-C-27487 / A-A-59326A specifications for universal compatibility.
Key Performance Features
- High-Flow Efficiency: The 65mm internal bore provides a high-volume flow path, minimizing pressure drops when used with high-capacity Pascali or petrol-driven water pumps.
- Secure Hose Retention: The precision-machined ribs on the hose tail are designed to "bite" into the inner lining of heavy-duty suction or discharge hoses, preventing blow-offs under pressure.
- Rapid Deployment: Allows for the "instant" connection of 65mm hoses to JoJo Tanks, manifolds, or pump inlets without the need for threading or specialized tools.
- UV and Chemical Stability: (For PP models) Engineered to withstand the intense Gauteng sun and the corrosive nature of modern fertilizers and pesticides.
- Debris Protection: When paired with a Type DP Male End Cap, the adapter face remains protected from red Heidelberg dust and insects when the hose is in storage.
Professional Usage & Tips
- Double Clamping: For 65mm hoses, always use two high-quality Kaufmann Stainless Steel T-Bolt Clamps or heavy-duty worm-drive clamps on the hose tail. Position the clamps in opposite directions to ensure a uniform 360° seal against the barbs.
- Ease of Installation: If the 65mm hose is too stiff to fit over the shank, dip the end of the hose in a bucket of hot water for 2 minutes to soften the rubber or PVC. Avoid using grease; a small amount of Shield Sheen Silicone is safer for the hose material.
- Vacuum Integrity: On the suction side of a pump, even a tiny air leak at the hose tail will cause the pump to lose prime. Ensure the hose is pushed fully up to the shoulder of the Type E adapter before clamping.
- Gasket Check: While this is the male piece, the seal depends on the gasket inside the female coupler it connects to. Before locking the arms, ensure the receiving gasket is free of Gauteng grit and red dust.
- Winter Handling: During the cold Winter 2026 mornings in Heidelberg, Polypropylene fittings can become less flexible. Avoid dropping heavy metal tools onto the fittings to prevent impact cracking.
Common Use Cases
- Bulk Water Transfer: Connecting 65mm suction hoses to JoJo Tank arrays for livestock watering.
- Irrigation Manifolds: Feeding large-scale Rain Jet micro-irrigation systems from a central pump.
- Fire Fighting: Standard fitting for high-volume water supply lines on "Skid-Unit" bakkie sprayers.
- Construction: Dewatering large sites or foundations using high-volume submersible pumps.
Pro Tip: To prevent the hose from kinking at the connection point, try to support the 65mm hose so it doesn't hang vertically off the adapter. The weight of a water-filled 65mm hose is significant and can put undue stress on the Camlock arms. Keep a spare Type E adapter in your Wildebees utility crate—it’s a lifesaver if a hose is damaged in the field during the busy Easter 2026 season and needs a fresh end-piece.
