Epol Lucerne Cubes are a high-protein roughage supplement designed for all classes of horses and ponies. They are made from A-grade lucerne and offer a consistent, dust-free alternative to traditional baled lucerne. These cubes are particularly useful for "stretching" available hay during periods of scarcity or for improving the overall protein and quality of a horse's forage intake when general hay quality is poor.

These cubes provide a concentrated source of fiber and protein without the addition of grains.

Using Lucerne Cubes helps eliminate many of the common issues associated with baled lucerne, such as high wastage, leaf loss, and variable bale weights. Because they are not fortified with additional vitamins and minerals, they are safe to use alongside other fully fortified Epol feeds without the risk of over-supplementing. They provide a balanced Calcium-to-Phosphorus ratio, which is often a concern when feeding pure baled lucerne.

Feeding Guidelines

Lucerne Cubes are classified as a roughage supplement rather than a complete replacement for long-stemmed forage. It is recommended that horses still receive a minimum of 1% of their body mass in long-stemmed hay to ensure optimum digestive health. Up to 1% of the horse's body weight in Lucerne Cubes can be fed daily. As with all pelleted fiber products, they should be introduced gradually over 7 to 14 days, and ensuring the horse is fed by weight rather than volume is critical.
