The Groz FOP/10 (often listed as GRO2137 in South Africa) is a high-pressure, portable grease pump designed for heavy-duty lubrication. Unlike traditional hand-lever pumps, this unit is operated by a foot pedal, which leaves both of the operator's hands free to guide the coupler and manage the hose—making it ideal for greasing large machinery like excavators, tractors, and earth-moving equipment.
Technical Specifications
- Bucket Capacity: 10 kg (Approximately 22 lbs)
- Maximum Pressure: Up to 8,700 PSI (600 BAR)
- Discharge Rate: Up to 2.0 grams per stroke
- Hose Length: 2 meters x 1/4" I.D. high-pressure rubber hose
- Compatible Grease: NLGI 1, 2, and 3
- Weight: Approximately 10 kg (empty)
Key Features
- Hands-Free Operation: The foot-lever mechanism significantly reduces user fatigue and allows for high-pressure greasing with maximum comfort and control.
- No Follower Plate Required: The internal moving parts are submerged in the grease. Their movement creates a "wave action" that automatically removes air pockets, ensuring a continuous flow without the need for a follower plate.
- Portable & Durable: Built with a sturdy steel bucket and a lift handle for easy transport around a site or workshop. It also features rubber pads on the base to prevent slipping and protect floors.
- Versatile Coupler Options: Usually comes with a professional-grade 4-jaw coupler, but high-end variants (like the FOP/10Q) feature a Quick-Lock Coupler for even easier attachment and removal under pressure.
- Low Height Operation: While designed for foot use, the lever can be operated by hand if you need to slide the unit under low-clearance machinery.
Best Practices for Use
- Priming: When using for the first time or after a refill, operate the foot lever for 1–2 minutes until grease flows consistently from the coupler to clear any trapped air.
- Tamping: After filling the bucket with bulk grease, "tamp" or tap the bucket on a firm surface several times to help the grease settle and displace large air pockets at the base.
- Cold Weather Tip: In very cold conditions, if the grease becomes too thick to pump easily, you can mix a small amount of SAE30 oil into the grease to improve workability.
- Cleaning: Always wipe the coupler and the machine's grease nipple before connecting to prevent pumping dirt into your bearings.
