The Herschell Anti-Spatter Non-Silicone (HERS0240) is a heat-resistant, straw-colored fluid designed to prevent weld spatter from bonding to metal surfaces. Its silicone-free formulation makes it the preferred choice for workshops that perform secondary operations like painting, powder coating, or galvanizing, as it eliminates the risk of "fish-eye" imperfections in the finish.
Technical Specifications
- Size: 400ml Aerosol.
- Formulation: Non-Silicone (Paint-safe).
- Color: Straw yellow.
- Product Code: HERS0240.
- Weight: ~0.34kg.
Key Performance Features
- Paint-Safe Formulation: Unlike silicone-based sprays, this organic oil-based formula does not interfere with the adhesion of paints or inks. It allows for subsequent coating often without requiring aggressive solvent cleaning.
- Extended Consumable Life: By preventing spatter buildup inside the MIG nozzle and shroud, it maintains a consistent gas flow and reduces the frequency of tip replacements.
- Reduced Post-Weld Cleanup: Protects the workpiece, jigs, and fixtures from "annoying" spatter balls, significantly reducing the need for grinding or chiseling after the weld is complete.
- High Temperature Resistance: Designed to remain effective under the intense heat of the welding arc without oxidizing or losing its release properties.
Common Applications
- MIG/MAG Welding: Spraying the torch front-end components to maintain gas coverage.
- Fabrication & Production: Protecting jigs and workpieces in high-volume assembly lines.
- Automotive Repair: Ideal for bodywork where surfaces must be painted immediately after welding.
- Electrode Welding: Can be applied to surrounding metal surfaces to keep them clean from arc spatter.
Usage & Professional Tips
- Application: Shake the can well and apply a thin, even coat to the area to be protected. Over-applying can cause the fluid to run into the weld joint, which may cause porosity.
- Distance: Hold the aerosol can approximately 20–30cm from the surface for the most uniform coverage.
- Nozzle Care: For best results, spray the inside of the shroud and the contact tip before starting your first weld and repeat periodically during long shifts.
- Cleaning: While it is paint-compatible, it is still professional practice to wipe down critical workpieces with a clean cloth before painting to remove any dust trapped in the anti-spatter film.
