The Herschell Mould Protect Clear (HERS0215) is a specialized, non-silicone aerosol spray designed to safeguard injection moulds, dies, and precision metal surfaces from atmospheric corrosion. Unlike heavy grease-based protectors, this creates a transparent, ultra-thin film that displaces moisture and prevents rust during storage without staining or marking the final moulded parts.
Technical Specifications
- Size: 400ml Aerosol.
- Film Type: Clear, non-silicone, non-staining.
- Corrosion Protection: Long-term resistance to moisture and industrial atmospheres.
- Compatibility: Safe for use with white or clear polymers (plastics).
- Product Code: HERS0215.
- Barcode: 6009888399514.
Key Performance Features
- Non-Silicone Formula: Because it contains no silicone, it will not interfere with secondary processes like painting, plating, or gluing of the moulded parts.
- Moisture Displacement: The fluid is engineered to "creep" under surface moisture, lifting it away from the metal to establish a direct protective barrier.
- "Mould-Off" Technology: The film is designed to be self-removing. When production resumes, the first few "shots" through the mould will typically carry the film away, eliminating the need for tedious manual cleaning with solvents.
- Transparent Visibility: The clear finish allows for easy inspection of the mould surface (checking for scratches or debris) without having to remove the protective layer.
- Under-Roof Protection: Highly effective for tools stored in warehouse conditions or under-roof environments where humidity fluctuates.
Common Applications
- Plastic Injection Moulding: Protecting high-polish mould cavities between production runs.
- Tool & Die Industry: Safeguarding precision stamping dies and extrusion heads.
- Precision Engineering: Protecting jigs, fixtures, and machined components during transit or short-term storage.
- Automotive: Used in the storage of specialized metal pressing tools.
Usage & Professional Tips
- Preparation: For best results, clean the mould surface with Herschell Electronic Cleaner or a similar degreaser to remove any residual polymer or cooling fluids before applying the protector.
- Application: Shake the can well and spray a light, even coat from a distance of about 20–30cm. Ensure all intricate details and corners of the die are covered.
- Storage: Once sprayed, the mould can be closed or wrapped in plastic for extended storage.
- Resuming Production: Simply mount the mould and begin the cycle. The clear film will be absorbed by the initial plastic waste and removed during the first few cycles.
