MTS Tile Spacers are essential plastic cross-shaped tools used to ensure even grout lines and a level, symmetrical finish during wall or floor tiling. In South Africa, they are widely available in various thicknesses to suit different tile types and design preferences.

Key Features

• Consistent Spacing: Ensures all tiles are laid at an equal distance from one another, preventing “drift” during installation.
• Lippage Prevention: Helps keep tiles level and flat, reducing the risk of uneven edges (lippage).
• Thermal Expansion: Provides the necessary gap for grout, which allows for minor thermal expansion and contraction of the tiles.
• Easy Removal: Designed to be easily pulled out or snapped off once the tile adhesive has set, before grouting begins.

Tiling Tips

• Selection: As a general rule, use 2-3mm for wall tiles and 5mm for floor tiles.
• Placement: Insert spacers at the corners of each tile. For larger tiles, add an extra spacer along the edges to prevent bowing.
• Removal: Always remove the spacers before the adhesive is completely rock-hard (usually 12–24 hours), but after it is firm enough that the tiles won’t move. Use a pair of needle-nose pliers for easier removal.
