Usage & Application Tips
- Preparation: Ensure the frame is clean, dry, and free of dust. Steel frames should be coated with a metal primer, and wooden frames must be sealed with a timber sealer or linseed oil before applying the putty.
- Kneading: Work the putty by hand before application to make it smooth, warm, and easy to shape.
- Application: Press a "back-putty" bead into the frame before setting the glass. After the glass is secured with glazier's points or clips, apply the "front-putty" and smooth it at an angle with an MTS Putty Knife.
- Softening: If the putty has stiffened in the bucket, you can soften it by adding a very small amount of Raw Linseed Oil. Never use paraffin or thinners.
