Glue Devil High Pressure PVC Weld is a premium-quality, solvent-based adhesive specifically engineered for joining unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) pipes and fittings. Formulated to create a “chemical cold-weld,” it dissolves the surface layers of the PVC to fuse the two parts into a single, homogenous unit capable of withstanding extreme internal pressures.
Key Performance Features
- High-Pressure Rated: Specifically designed for pressure systems (Schedule 40 and 80), making it the primary choice for water mains and industrial fluid transport.
- Chemical “Cold-Weld” Action: Effectively melts the contact surfaces to create a bond that is as strong, or stronger, than the pipe material itself.
- Gap-Filling Viscosity: Features a medium-bodied consistency that fills the slight tolerances between the pipe and the socket, ensuring a 100% airtight and watertight seal.
- Rapid Set Time: Formulated for fast-track installations, allowing for quick handling and pressure testing shortly after application.
Ideal Applications
- Potable Water Systems: Safe for use in domestic and municipal drinking water lines (once fully cured and flushed).
- Irrigation & Agriculture: The go-to adhesive for high-pressure irrigation manifolds, borehole casings, and pump suction lines.
- Industrial Piping: Ideal for chemical processing lines, swimming pool filtration systems, and water treatment plants.
- Substrates: Engineered specifically for PVC-U (Rigid PVC) pipes and fittings.
Critical Application Steps
- Preparation: Cut the pipe square and remove all burrs. Clean both the pipe end and the inside of the fitting with a high-quality PVC Primer/Cleaner to remove grease and “glaze.”
- Application: Apply a thin, even layer of PVC Weld to the inside of the fitting and a more generous layer to the outside of the pipe.
- Assembly: Immediately push the pipe into the fitting with a slight twisting motion (approx. 1/4 turn) to ensure even distribution of the cement.
- Set Time: Hold the joint firmly for 30 seconds to prevent “push-out.” Wipe away any excess cement immediately with a dry cloth.
Pro Tip: For high-pressure applications, the cleaning and priming stage is non-negotiable. Without removing the factory “sheen” from the PVC, the solvent cannot penetrate deeply enough to create a true structural weld. For pipes over 50mm, always use a larger brush to ensure you can apply the glue fast enough before it begins to skin.
