The Herschell Copper Anti-Seize Paste (HERS0180) is a high-temperature, heavy-duty industrial lubricant designed to prevent the seizing and galling of threaded metal components. Formulated with micronized copper and high-quality mineral oils, it ensures that nuts, bolts, and flanges can be easily disassembled even after exposure to extreme heat, pressure, or corrosive environments.
Technical Specifications
- Size: 500g Tub.
- Temperature Range: Effective lubrication up to 300°C; anti-seize properties up to 1100°C.
- Base: Clay-based (inorganic) thickener with highly refined mineral oils.
- Consistency: NLGI Grade 1.5 (soft, buttery, and easy to apply).
- Resistance: Excellent resistance to water washout, salt spray, and mild acids/alkalis.
- Product Code: HERS0180.
Key Performance Features
- Quick Disassembly: Specifically formulated to ensure that treated fasteners remain in good condition, allowing for non-destructive removal even after long operational periods.
- High Load Carrying: Fortified with copper, bronze, and other solids to provide boundary lubrication under extreme pressure and light-to-medium speeds.
- Disc Brake Anti-Squeal: Effectively eliminates annoying disc brake squeal when applied to the reverse side of brake pads (between the piston and pad backing plate).
- Corrosion Protection: Seals out water and condensation to prevent the effects of tribo-corrosion on thread flanks, making it ideal for marine and outdoor industrial use.
- Thermal Stability: It is a non-melt paste that regains its original texture after cooling from elevated temperatures.
Common Applications
- Industrial: Manifold exhaust nuts, flanges, pipeline connections, and cylinder head studs.
- Automotive: Wheel nuts, spark plug threads, and brake caliper sliding pins/pad backings.
- Marine: Any threaded connection exposed to salt water or high humidity.
- Firearms: Frequently used as a storage and operational lubricant for modern sporting rifles and pistols.
Usage & Professional Tips
- Preparation: Always clean the threads thoroughly with a wire brush and a solvent like Herschell Cleaner/Degreaser to remove old grease or grit before application.
- Thin Coating: Apply a thin, even layer to the threads or mating surfaces using a spatula or brush. A thick glob is unnecessary and can attract more dirt.
- Compatibility: This clay-based grease is compatible with calcium and calcium 12-hydroxy thickeners. Avoid mixing with lithium-based greases as it may cause the thickener system to break down.
- Avoid Electrical Contacts: While copper is conductive, the grease base is not intended for live electrical equipment. Use a dedicated contact cleaner for electrical terminals.
